Recently I spent over a month looking for feeder roaches in FL, found nothing on them other then Floridaroaches.com who is out for a few months. With nobody willing to ship Dubia it can be rather impossible. Well I found out it doesn't have to be! There is a pet store that sells them in Riverview where you don't even have to wait on shipping! can't beat a local pick-up. n.n

The store offers a wide verity of animals that most other pet stores don't have, like the giant bird eater. Freaking thing was the size of like one and a half of my LARGE hands. Their roaches are kept in stock and on display regularly, made sure to ask about that while I was there, so finding them in stock shouldn't be a problem at all. Prices for Nymphs are 25 cents each and adults are 40 cents, though the Nymphs go like wild fire so finding them in stock is a little hard. All and all for anyone living in Florida and thinks their screwed on roaches for their animals, the're not!

Please tell them you were referred by CJ.

Well I know that Dubia are illegal in Florida(or so I have been told) and that is why no one will ship to you in FLA. As far as the store selling them...well I am not so sure that is ok either. I would think illegal is illegal. But glad you found what you were looking for anyways!!! Me, I can't stand the sight of them, so no roaches for me!!!

Discoid roaches are native to FL and completely legal to be sold in stores or from breeders, though I'm sure there are permits to worry about. These roaches are fine and will not get you into any problems.

The problem with roach breeders outside of FL is they will ship you Discoids, making them illegal when shipped, but not Dubia even though they were just willing to ship you the Discoids illegally.

Its because someone was recently caught being shipped dubia and they were fined (and jailed? I cant remember.) it was all over the news. AND dubia are not actually found there, but discoids can be found in fl. I know I am uncomfortable with potentially helping a new species invade FL because some keepers just had to have dubia as feeders.

Haha, looks like everytime you post something about Roaches in Florida, someone feels the urge to remind you that Dubia's are illegal.

-Cheers!-

im a pro smuggler. ;) but seriously they're illegal in Florida? I think i can easily get them to any one in Florida.:p

lol DUBIAS are not a problem (except for the legality)… i once had them shipped to me, and even via ebay.. along with hissers. I fed them all to my reptiles once i found out they were illegal and instead bred crickets and worms… but the meaty roaches are good for the reptiles. Im in South Florida, any of you know where to order Discoids now a days??

For the record anyone new or whatnot, dubias and hissers are still illegal in Florida. Whats ironic, is when I was in highschool in my zoology class we had the hissers IN THE CLASS.. as pets. -_-

You're allowed to have hissers in Florida from a reputable place (like, I think a Florida university is one of the few insitutions that distributes them) but they HAVE to be male. They will not send out a female for any reason, but that's why you do see some of them in classrooms and animal centers. And I don't think you can have any brought into the state, male or otherwise.

Well it sucks that they are outof stock now "_" well the website says. I live in bradenton Fl thanks for the post though cant wait for them to be back.in stock

Phone first. You know how often websites get updated. NOT!!!!!! They might have them. You could also call the folks across the bay. They can special order them for ya. Its something like order them on Monday, and they'll be there Wednesday kind of a thing. I picked up 10 last Saturday to see how Luke like them. Needless to say I have none left. He told me he can't wait til spring so I can get a colony kicking. ;)

they like and/or need pretty high temps to breed. and i don't want a divorce. no way i could have a bunch of them in the house. outside is a must for me. if i was to buy a bunch now, which isn't cheep in the first place, i'd just be feeding them off. i want to build the momentum up and then feed them off. its one thing to hide 10 or 20 in an unmarked container behind everything else on the shelve in the closet, but 100 of them wouldn't be so inconspicuous. BTW I NEVER SAY ROACH, OMG they're beetles dammit. LOL!!!!!
