Hi there!

My cham TOTO seems to have discolored areas of the body (see pics). It happened once before and disappeared, but this time it is more visible, larger, and has been around for a few days. Is it time to shed? Or is this a problem?

Cham is around 9 months
Setup is in pics, basking temp 87, cool 75
Fogger and lights are on a timer
Vegetation is safe, sometimes munches on it
Sand is in because we suspected she is gravid
Eats crickets and silk worms
Poops, peeps, sleeps, eats well

Looks like a normal shed coming to me. She's huge!

Yey! Thank you! She usually doesn't get this way before the shed.Whew.

Huge how? Still gravid huge, you think? She stopped roaming and never laid eggs when I suspected she was gravid. I am worried she might be egg bound. Or can they just dissipate?

I think she looks like shes going to lay. or you have a fat cham. if they were just folicles(im not 100% shure that what they are called) than they could "go away" but that doesnt look to b the case. im thinking someone on here can help you much more then me.

I agree she is both shedding and gravid. I would remove her form the cage and put her in a trash can sized laying bin, and see if she doesn't lay. She sure looks way ready!!

It is possible for them to absorb the eggs but that doesn't seem to be your situation. I would check the sand and make sure it is moist enough to hold a tunnel, you should be able the make a fist with the sand and have the sand hold it's shape. How deep is your box? You can make a tunnel for her, sometimes they will use it.

Yeah I keep the sand just right, and it is about 12 inches deep. It has been in there for a month or so, since I first suspected she is a gravid female, not a constipated male... She used to roam around looking for a spot, and continued to do so after I put the sand in. She stopped roaming about 10 days ago, the colors on her also went from orange to brown. She went down to the sand a bunch, but never dug in it.

You think putting her in the bin and leaving her will force her to lay? I am considering taking her to the vet this week, to see what is up...

Lmao at the "her not being a constipated male" that made me laugh:p many people have success putting there females in large bins, I tried that and it wasn't working for mine so I just do what you do. I do find that covering the cage helps, they really need there privacy at that time. I use black garbage bags with a cut out peep hole because I am nosey! :D

You might want to mix soil with your sand so it's easier to tunnel with. Also, I'm not sure if your pot/bucket at the bottom is large enough for her to want to dig around in - but all chams are different lol. Mine just layed two days ago, but she wouldn't dig until I put ALL of her leaves in front of the bucket to give her privacy. I even draped a sheet over her cage so when I walked into the room I wouldn't startle her.

Just tips that I used :]

Yeah, I am going to cover her up today, who knows, amy be that is the problem? But I might just take her to the vet after all...

Update

Update: after numerous failed containers and media choices, she finally laid her eggs in a regular plant pot with dirt and a plant after I have moved her to her new huge outdoor space... go figure.

Haha. They never follow the rules do they? At least she laid. Now make sure u up her food And calcium intake for a bit.
