I was gonna say the same thing.

I just take them back to the pet store I bought them from or just Recycle them at work.

You are assuming the power some of us use is generated by coal....

Thought this was neat: http://www.epa.gov/cleanenergy/energy-and-you/how-clean.html

only 11.2% of my power is from coal.

Back home in Glenview, IL my power would be 72% from coal....... I can say I am glad I don't live there for that reason. (oh and it's cold as hell right now)

Haha I work in Glenview.

Im Sorry

Well,

In all honestly, last night was plain weird. I wrote my post at like 3am? feeling like I knew what I was doing, this morning I reread everything and I think I totally misunderstood the thread. I had the feeling the people were attacking the guy because he did not recycle his bulbs.

However after rereading, I understand its more of a "lets all do the right thing by spreading awareness of the dangers" and I totally agree with that.

My own post, was somewhat angry sounding.... hahah I totally watched this documentary about everything I mentioned, and it had me livid. However thats not a good excuse.

To make my original post logical, yes I think that humanity does a lot of stupid things. But I agree that awareness needs to be spread and safety taken ( I read the mercury link ) to prevent ourselves from doing harm to others unknowingly. I also agree that we need to protect our environment or we will not have one soon enough. However I think it is unfair for us ( the consumer ) to be forced to pay for the government's/manufacturer's abuses. I also think that besides doing our own part to improve safety and increase conservation, we should be forcing the government to actively ( by this I mean not charging me 5c to use a plastic bag, but actually physically reducing plastic production, maybe replace it completely with thin cotton bags? ) do its part as well. Maybe demand manufacturers to seek alternatives to mercury and other poisonous additives in their products?

again, you all have my deepest apologies for being rash and somewhat silly in my first post. I hope that all can be forgiven.
S.F

P.S that mercury link scared me, I will start properly disposing of all things now. Thank you.

While I agree with this in part Franky, it's not only the government's/manufacturer's abuses, its ours too as the end consumer.
The consumer also has some responsibility in what they buy and use, and enviromental awareness is everyones responsibility.
Dont forget, most of us live under democracy and therefore we vote in the government, hence we are responsible also for what they do, or fail to do.

off topic....

I just take them back to the pet store I bought them from or just Recycle them at work.

Where do ya work? Craft Foods? All State? Crate and Barrel? wait... technically Crate and Barrel is in Techny...... Close enough....:rolleyes:

Yeah.. you could work in about a hundred different places in Glenview. I just figured Craft or Allstate because they are large corporate institutions.

More on topic... The idea of the thread is 'don't destroy the planet with your UVB tubes going in the trash, recycle them.' It isn't about global climate change... I don't care about the political border with that. It is simple; we need to be cleaner, period. Just because your on the right side doesn't mean you can't agree with the left on making the country operate cleaner. And I say that from a more central point. We just need to be better about our waste and be more efficient. Kinda like 'can't we all just get along'? :)

Agreed no need to turn this Thread into another Global Warming Fiasco and Conspiracies.
