DIY cages n such... check it!

Hey guys so over the past couple months I have got into the homemaking phase of chameleon raising.

So far, I have 3 homemade cages; all different design. They were all made for inside but since its summer time, my babies live in the sunshine.

Check it out!


This first cage used to be a bird cage. Did not really need to do much..
It houses one my male veiled named "Inquisition"

Next this is a homemade 4x2x2 wooden cage.
It houses "Forward Unto Dawn" also know as the pansy....

Finally, my newest cage made out of PVC. It is 4x2x2 as well but is loaded with the most foliage.
This is the extra cage that houses chameleons I watch. Currently my friends male veiled "Hitler" enjoys the sunshine.

nice cages... I notice there were different types of screen for each cages.. What type of screen did you use for the pvc cage? Also which screen did you like using? How much did you get it for and where at? I would like to built couple of cages in the near future.

Well the first bird cage had metal garden fencing. That is the most expensive and the hardest to work it.

The other two, I used some regular plastic garden fencing. It is about 13 dollars for 30 feet. I prefer using this.

The PVC cage came to about 50 bucks while the wood one cost about 70-80 bucks.

yeah to me thats not worth it.. I spent about 60 bucks years long ago and I rather buy an aluminum cage from LLL lol... But I really like the PVC cage tho..

EDIT: sorry that is worth it in a way. Looks unique. And the demensions of that cage would could 100 dollars from LLL. I'll look into it. thanks!

yeah to me thats not worth it.. I spent about 60 bucks years long ago and I rather buy an aluminum cage from LLL lol... But I really like the PVC cage tho..

I was looking at someone elses wooden cage. From a quick observation, the supplies of his cage could come to a totally of probably like 35 bucks.

I think it is a lot more enjoyable to build a cage. The cost plays a way smaller importance. If its under a hundred dollars then its worth it to me...

I am looking at trying to make the PVC cage. I had a couple questions. It looks like everything is attached by zip ties? Like the panels to each other and the screen to the PVC. Also how did you do the door so that it opens and latches?
