DIY Misting System

I plan to have numerous cages and I was wondering if anyone has come across this type of system. The unclogging of any debris from the nozzles is simple enough. Has anyone tried this setup or one similar and found it works great. It appears it worked for him and would be rather inexpensive.

Yeah o have the same setup and it works great. Those little pumps generate pretty good.pressure. You just have to pump them a few times. Only drawback is that its.not.automated.

Thats the one I made for my blog... Cool thing about this sysytem is it works with mister heads, dripper heads, and low pressure sprinkler heads.. Whatever you want its interchangeable... Plus BIG BONUS... If you head to Home Depot and pick of a fountain pump at about 330+ GPH... It creates an automated dripper... If you want a mister, just pick up the next biggest size pump... No need for those expensive misters... Just thought I'd chime in for penny pinchers like me

I made my own system with the Smartpond pond pumps from Lowes like seanUTD mentioned. Like he said, It won't create a true mist, more of a rain or drip. You can go for a pump that has a larger GPH rating, but be prepared to build some type of drainage system because your going to have to deal with an emormous volume of water per day. My pump is rated at 330 gallons per hour, and I go through about 10 gallons of water a day. I use Marty's Mistking timer that is programmable in seconds, and it runs both my homemade and my Mistking simultaneously. If you decide to use a pond pump with a 330+ GPH capacity, a good seconds timer is almost certainly mandatory. I like both my homemade and my Mistking.

45 Litres a day just seen your setup, and OMG how many cages! do you use RO or just plain tap water? (water in my area has a TDS of over 400)

8 cages at the moment. I have stopped using RO water for the last 9 months and I have not noticed any problems at all,.....yet.

Yup... Lots of water... Lots and lots and lots.... I use my 330 GPH as a dropper and still use 3 gallons a day... And tap works fine just be sure you check the pump and heads every now and then for calcium or mineral build up.... I already had that happen to one head...

Rehoming Calyptratus Sunday

I have been reading for awhile before I would take in this Cham and it is my first Cham. RO Water is (reverse osmosis) correct? My small village water may be a problem. It smells like bleach and leaves reddish stains. I do not want to use it, but can I get an attachmen/purifier at the faucet and trust it? What are economical alternatives beside buying water? Do the products you add to water work good? Can anyone explain TDS(total dissolved solids) a little further? I have seen many spray down methods, 2-3 times a day for 30 seconds, or just base it by humidity levels? Thank you for the responses!

I will start with the spray pump first.

Calyptratus is over one year old, but owner is not exactly sure of age.
