I live in Massachusetts and its freezing during the winter and very hot and humid during the summer.. i am setting up a enclosure for a veiled chameleon and i was wondering if 100 watts is gonna cut it.

What you will find is you may need to swap wattage bulbs depending on the time of year so you may use the 100 watt for winter and a 60 or 40 watt for warmer weather. It's all trial and error and seeing what works.

It's really hard to give you the correct wattage for lights, as so many things affect its output. Based on your normal room temps, its ventilation and cooling/heating method, the size and type of cage, how close the basking branches are to the bulb, etc. As already mentioned, you'll probably have to use different watt bulbs at different times of year.

You will need to do some trial and error testing most likely. Set up the enclosure with plants and everything in place, then test using different watt bulbs (start off with a lower watt...100 is pretty hot). Try 60w and track the temps right at your basking perch. If the resulting temp is too low for the species, try a higher watt. If too hot you can move the light farther away from the cage top.
