Do I need a mister?

Hi, I'm considering owning a veiled chameleon soon. It seems like every website has a different answer on the whole misting situation. If I use a dripper, as well as a spray bottle twice a day, do I really need a mister?

Also, should the water I use be a specific temperature?

Misting helps with humidity, as well as a water source. I use room temperature water.

Misters help because you have a daily consistent water routine. I'm gone all day with work and class in the evening, so the mister does all that work for me. But I also fill a dripper every morning too.

How much water would this produce in one day? I am putting my cage together now and still working on what to do for drainage. My cage will sit on top of a snake condo so I don't have any space to drill a hole below it.

I built an 8 inch space on the bottom of my cage where I actually planted my plants. All the water and mist, etc. waters the plants that way and I don't have to drain, except two little holes that I have on the bottom that go into gallon jugs.

Working out perfectly for me...

You could probably drill holes on the sides if you were to do it that way ^

What is the climate like in your area and in the room the cage would be in? For example, if your room will be dry or hotter in summer the mister can help keep the temp a bit lower. If you have to run an AC in summer and a forced air furnace in winter the mister can help maintain higher humidity without you being there to spray multiple times a day. You can get an idea if you set up the cage, lights, plants, etc. and test dripper and hand spraying routines before you get the cham. Monitor the temps and humidity to see what the cage conditions end up like. If they are too dry a mister can really help.

it depends. Where do you live? Where I live, the relative humidity without any intervention is about 40%+, so by hand misting once a day (twice for babies) and using a dripper there is plenty of moisture for the chameleons. They get most of their drinking water from the drippers.

If you live somewhere dry, you will need to mist more often and for longer durations, especially if you use a screen type cage.

I don't have my veiled on the mistking system, I just hand spray them a few times a day.
They are Yemen chams, from the higher mountain, cooler reagens, they don't require the same misting schedule as a panther, and jax require tons of water.
