Do I need a misting system?

you don't "need" a misting system. If you want to use a spray bottle and mist the cage manually 4 or 5 times a day you can do that too, you have to mist for a few minutes each time so a misting system is a great investment.. I'm using a mist king and it's a great system, set the timer and just keep the reservoir full, usually fill it up once a week. keeps everything nice and humid and don't have to worry about not being home

I would suggest a pump sprayer instead of a squirt bottle - you get a better mist and aren't that much more - a dripper is a good idea you can make one out by just putting a small hole with a needle into a milk jug and placing it on top of the cage so the water will drip on a leaf that he can drink from- and a good place for it to drain (keeping in mind that you don't want standing water or anything he can fall into)

Maybe you could just get a pump spryer until you can get the mistking? That's what I'm doing! So far working out great!
