I've had my 2.5 month old jackson chameleon for about a month now he has been doing fine until today I noticed after he finished eating he's been staying still with his eyes closed. He ate 2 pinhead crickets this morning which were fed a cricket diet and dusted with calcium powder with D3. After he ate he climbed to the top branch and looked up and opened his mouth and looked like he was about to throw up but didn't. Since then he has been doing this and I doubt he is dehydrated but that's the only thing I can think of

I dust the crickets with it and it was my second time feeding him the crickets with it dusted on them

Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?

2.5 month old Jackson chameleon I think it is a female doesn't really have horns I started feeding him pinhead crickets last week dusted with calcium and gutloaded with a regular cricket diet. I have a big dripper and I also most 4-5 times a day for 2-3 minutes. His droppings have been dark not sure about the texture of it because when I seen it earlier i seen it had been wet from misting.
I have a ventilated terranium bought at petsmart it's the one with the ventilation system. I use a reptisun 5.0 bulb in a dome light. The day temperature is from 76-80 degrees while the night is 70-72. The humidity stays between 50-60. It is in a low traffic area. And the cage is on top of my bed close to a window. I am located in Greeley Colorado which is 70 miles north of Denver. The problem is after he ate today he climbed to the top branch and stood there with his eyes closed and he picked his front body up and he looked like he was going to throw up he gags and opens his mouth but nothing comes out when he does this he turns a dark brown but when he is done he turns green but he does this every ten minutes

Can you please be more specific with the kind of calcium you are giving him? There are different kinds. Calcium with no D3, Calcium with D3. Then there is the Repashy Calcium plus. You should ONLY be giving him/her calcium with D3 once ever 4-6 weeks. You should be giving him/her calcium with NO D3 about 4 days a week and then a multivitamin once every 4-6 weeks. if you only have been giving him/her the calcium with D3 and have been giving it to him/her often then you are doing a ton of damage to his/hers internal organs.

For a panther or veiled yes. Good rule and maybe for some jacksons situations. I'm no expert on jacksons but I don't think they need more than one light d3 dusting a month. Plain calcium MOST days.

Good information. But he's had the cham a month and has dusted 2 times.... Can't do damage that fast... So the OPs supp. Schedual isn't gonna have an effect yet.

TO THE OP. I have not seen this exact situation before but I can say you need to thouroughly fill out that form and include brand names and details. Respritory infection comes to mind but again... I'm no expert and haven't seen it. Pics video. Would help

For jacksons chameleons you don't need to dust there feeders very offen at all, it's not good for them as there a montane species, I dust there feeders once a week, twice at most and I don't really ever dust with d3, you need to concentrate on a good gut loading schedule instead

What is a better gut loading formula? I had her eating fruit flies but I ran out and all the pet stores around me are sold out so I had to switch her to pinheads. She takes awhile to swallow them do you think they might be too big and that one is stuck and that's why she is doing what she is?

The best thing to do for the gutload is to give fresh greens (collard, mustard) dandilion leaves, oatmeal/unsalted sunflower seeds, oranges, squash, carrots.

Just eating fruit flies?? She needs to eat crickets, and worms too, just eating one thing could be part of the problem. Variety is important. If you were only feeding her flies until last week, I highly doubt she was getting all the nutrients she needs.
In my experience, they sometimes just hold it in their mouths for like a minute. But since you said you just started giving them to her she could be not used to eating anything bigger than a fly...

Ok thank you the guy I had bought her from told me to feed her fruit flies for awhile his Jackson just had babies and he was getting rid of all of them including the parents. I have been trying to make her drink from I leaf I hold in my hand but she won't I also have tried a syringe and she won't drink from that either so I think the problem is that she hasn't eaten anything bigger than a fly so the crickets are hard for to get down. Thank you everyone for your help and if you have any more suggestions please let me know this is my first chameleon and I want more information because where I live no one seems that they are knowledgable on chameleons. Oh I see. Personally, I wouldn't have just fed her fruit flies. I don't blame you for listening to the guy though. I would keep a close eye on her b/c if she's having trouble eating, and won't drink something is definitely up. I would call a vet, because they will know more about this situation and how to correct it.

I used to live in Colorado too, there are definitely people who know about chameleons, you just have to call around/look through a phone book.

Basking temps are around 78-80 degrees. But thank you I appreciate but there is a all reptile store I found that I'm going to go visit today it is only going to be around 80 degrees today so I was thinking of taking my Cham with me.

I would not take him with you until you absolutely know that these people will help you. Travel is very stressful on them, and it is best to only do it when necessary.
