Do stripes indicate male or female?

Someone told me because my Veiled chameleon has vertical stripes it’s a male.

I cannot find anything to back thier information up.
Is it true?

Picture is when I first brought it home, so it’s angry.

Females can have stripe patterns and males can have spots at that young age... While they do have more splotchy pattering compared to males, young veiled tend to have the same patterns until they mature. The spots you may be referring too are what you watch for when the females are sexually mature and show mustard colored spots indicating they are receptive.

Like mentioned before, best way to sex Veiled is by the back of their rear foot.

Here is a pic of my male Veiled when he was a young lad. Very spotty. IMG_20170205_131208.jpg
