do vieled chameleons turn bright colors?

This is my veiled when hes basking. That and a simple light/dark green stripe patterns and spots is all I ever see him at. And i agree with max, all the jacksons i've ever seen are usually just a solid green. Veileds are a lil more advanced in color schemes. A veiled's color mainly depends on sex; male are most of the time more colored, and on how well nourished they are. And of course the parents color schemes.

The male veileds can get some pretty sweet colors. I've never been able to make up my mind which I like more between the yellow, orange, and turqouise variations. Jacksons for the most part are a plain green with maybe some darker brown or black.

Yeah, the Mt Merus are pretty sweet with their turqouise and green. I believe you're right, they're the most colorful jackson species. I saw one of the members post a pic of theirs the other day. Can't remember who or when, but it was a REALLY beautiful example.

Here's our boy, Luke.. pretty bright when he feels like showing off :roll eyes:

So I have a baby female chameleon. Should I not expect her to have bright colors?

Female vieleds tend to be a beautiful vibrant leaf green with some whitish markings. There is a lot of individual variation. When they get upset or excited their color can just glow even more intensely. When they are developing a clutch of eggs they can change to a different green with bright blue and yellow spots. Again, how bright their colors are depends a lot on their health and their mood.

That's amazing.. So normally he is just green??

His "resting colors" are usually a dark brownish/greenish.. kinda like camouflage print colors. But when he is out of his cage... whether outside or on free range tree.. or in front of a mirror, he turns super bright! I say he loves to show off :p It doesn't even look like the same chameleon.
