Do you ever get bored of your chameleon?

As a new chameleon owner I gotta admit that while I was excited to have one I thought it would be neat to have around for me and the kids. I did a stupid amount of research first to make sure I'd be content with my girl. I knew I'd like her, but I gotta say the moment I got her it was love at first face climb. She's a bit of a diva and I get glared at from time to time but I can easily sit and take 50 photos of her even though she is not colorful at all compared to the boys.

I could live without the bugs but I knew what I was getting into before I got her.

I love just sitting and watching chief roam around either in his cage or his free range... Or get a lounge chair and watch him conquer a small tree in the yard :)
But when I was little, I had a 40 gal (fresh water) aquarium full of fish for my childhood... My parents would find me in my room with my desk chair in front of the tank with the lights off in my room and the tank light on and would just admire them for hours :)

I've spent some time at home sick, so while home I won't even have the tv on, I'll just watch Chief roam his house or be lazy :)

Play nice people :)

I don't get bored.. however, do understand on a forum like this it seems a odd question..
However it IS a good question.. but I have to ask you how do you define bored? what are you looking for in a pet reptile, your expectations... your wishes? before any consideration of can I care for it, one has to ask will this animal meet my expectations? behaviorally.. what I want out of it :)

As many mentioned lots of things to do try add etc to make it a experience.. however this does kind of have to be something you also enjoy and will find a new exciting thing to do, Myself, I am not looking for a animal that wants needs constant contact.. is fun to watch and see glimpse of behavior spaced out with a lot of inactivity.. I can sit and look at this animal and enjoy the subtle beauty of them sitting content happy and relaxed.. I enjoy the challenge of trying new things to improve the animals comfort and health... boring? perhaps for some.. a lot of work? yeh for some too..
But meets my expectations of what I was looking for.. so never boring or to much work :)

I have never been bored with Handsome Jack. It's time-consuming and incredibly rewarding, caring for him every day and just watching my little man grow up and be a chameleon.

Reptiles in general are boring, if your not pationate about them. I own a few to many, so does my brother ( the other one just gets bored of them after awhile ). me and my oldest brother both love them. I can sit there all day and tinker with cages and setups all day ( most days I do :p ).

They are a hobby not a job or a child. It shouldn't be something you put off for days cause you don't want to clean a cage or trim a plant, it should be fun because you want to see how it turns out. If you find it to be a chore, then I would look for something else!

Ps when you come on a cham forum, for asking if people think there chams get bring people get a little nuts lol:D

.
Good luck to you, you deside to get a cham and keep. Us updated:D:D:D

LOL, ya, kinda a bad place to ask that question. Everyone on this forum from what I can tell loves their chams very much, probably wish we could have a few more :p

They always keep me buisy and active. if its not taking them out of the cage to free range and take pictures, its taking care of insects for them to eat, cleaning cages or even pondering new ideas for gut loads and cage set ups.

Chams are very cool

Funny you should ask that question since I was thinking about how long it's been since I have been interested in chams.
I am the type of guy who gets bored easy, I get interested in something, spend a bunch of money, and after a year, get totally bored with it.
I had chams before I discovered this forum, but when I did, it pumped me up even more and influanced me to buy more chams.
It's been 4 years owning them, and I had a jacksons and flapneck back in the 1970's.
I never would have believed how attached I have become to these wonderful little animals. I do not particulary like reptiles in general, though I did have some leopard geckos at one time, got really bored with those after a year, and gave them to my Nephew because he loved them so much.

Everything about chams I love, even after all this time, I love to just sit and watch them. I still get a kick out of giving them flies and watching them hunt the flies and eat them.

Something about their personality, each one different, and they do not act like 'lizards' at all, more like a cross between a cat and a monkey!!

I am still as excitted about chams as I was 4 years ago :)

i could never be bored of sully never!
i love everything about him.even now when i watch him eat its like the first time i saw him eat.i was amazed and i still am.everytime i hold him i feel so privileged to own such an amazing, sweet & gentle creature :D

I agree. Its a good thing to think about before buying. And to know what you can expect from this type of pet.

While most on this forum think chameleons are very fascinating, the more common reaction of the general public is going to be one of initial interest followed by boredom.

yes, I said it. Chameleons can be boring.

to the non-enthusiast, all they do is slowly wander a cage, eat bugs, occasionally shed skin and poop. the colour change isnt that spectacular or constant, and its not to match the background like many would believe. You cant really interact with you - they are not like more typical pets like dogs and cats that you can "play" with.

Nope, I never get bored, Chameleons roll up a bunch of my interests into one super fun hobby. I enjoy every aspect of it, even the bugs....well not the dubias. The adults still creep me out, lol.
To me, growing the plants, arranging the enclosures, taking care of the bugs, watching the chameleons go about their daily activities, it's all fascinating. They can't catch a frisbee, and basically just tolerate me, but I enjoy them immensely. :)
