I think @Fchamel is right. Your chameleon appears to be showing signs of MBD. If she’s still eating, and able to walk around, then fixing up your husbandry will likely help, but I think a vet appointment is in order. If you’d like one of us to have a look at your husbandry, and make some suggestions about how to improve things, please fill out the following form:

The marks on the head ridges are fine (they will turn white/grey/black as they get older). But like others said, you have "mid" MBD. You will need to start supplementing with medium D3 (RIGHT NOW), and reevaluate your UVB lights.

In terms of supplements, i would buy Repashy Calcium Plus (non LoD) RIGHTNOW, and use it every feeding. Then in 4-6 weeks use that for your twice a month vitamin/d3 supplement and use calcium without D3 on all the other feedings.

She’s been a little stressed as of late I have to clean her enclosure but I’m nervous given her state when consulting a professional they said she’s stressed for two reasons calcium and humidity.... her crickets were already gut feed but now I’m dusting them again... so I’ve made a change as far as vitimins... I can’t imagine anything being wrong amwith her lights but I can get another if I have too next week... what’s mbd?

In the cage a lot of dark colors as soon as she’s laying on mute rubbing her head against my hand it all clears up to a bright green expect for that as of lately but she’s never had that.

Mbd is metabolic bone disease. It is because you do not have the correct uv lights. You need a T5HO linear light. The ones you have now do not give her measurable amounts of UVB. Also you need correct supplements like calcium.
You should take her to a vet that specializes in chameleons. What specialists did you see?

OMygoodness! Hello and welcome to the forum @Topazdaddy28. I’ll bet you were never expecting this kind of reception. As you can tell we are a very passionate bunch of chameleon lovers and want to help others have many happy and healthy years with their chameleons. Your sweet little girl (?) is showing some signs of metabolic bone disease and almost looks like some burns on the casque. Looking at your enclosure in the background, I do see that it needs some improvements. Keeping chameleons is much more involved than the majority of pet store employees will tell you and honestly, many have no clue. So, while you do need a vet visit first and foremost to address the more urgent needs of your cham, if you fill out the help form below, a forum member would be more than happy to help you get everything fixed up.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

I called a store to ask how much do chameleon vets cost?
Hi, and welcome to the forum.

 IDK why you would call a store to ask about vet costs—that's kind of like calling a vet to ask how much a chameleon costs... ? Better, IMO, to call a reptile vet (or a few if there are more than one) in your area to inquire about costs.

If you need help finding a herp (reptile) vet, there are some articles in the top green-shaded area of the Health Clinic forum that should help.

I agree with others that a visit to a vet is in order—not only because of the mbd—a vet can perform a general health exam & assessment, including a fecal exam (for which you'll have to provide a sample of your cham's ?) to check for parasites.

Speaking of costs, it might be a good idea to read some articles on the costs of owning a chameleon. ;)

I also urge you to peruse all of the information in the Resources section of this site. I found it very helpful and informative on a variety of topics & issues. :)

Although UVB lighting can be a part of the reason your chameleon has MBD it is also the result of other incorrect husbandry as well...it can be from an imbalance in nutrients and incorrect temperatures and obesity/amount of food fed to it all can play a part too in some cases.

I’ve been looking today and I’m noticing that those colors do go back to normal.... just a small update I’ve dusted all her gut fed crickets and I’ll be updating her lights soon enough.
