i want to purchase a chameleon from FL chams, but im on the website, and i cant find anything about them shipping to canada, if it is possible, how?, can someone please help me out

I'm in ontario and sadly the cost of shipping a chameleon from the US to Canada is ridiculously high! Something like $2000 before the cost of the animal.

I'd recommend trying to find breeders within Canada that will ship if need be.

It's a bummer I know. The US has some stunning animals out there!

Shipping a chameleon from the US does not cost $2000. There is a canadian company that specializes in animal shipping, and is also able to import/export. I havent checked their website for quite some time, but I believe the price was closer to 700 bucks, but that is for an unlimited amount of chameleons so long as they are all from the same US breeder. The company is Reptile Express, and I have heard nothing but good things about them. The price would be a lot easier to stomach if you did a group buy and divided the cost between 3-4 people. Good luck!

Almost all chameleons are regulated under CITES and require specific permits to be shipped across international borders. So FLChams (or any other American breeders or suppliers) can not simply pop a chameleon in a box and send it up to you via FedEx or UPS. I’ve written an article about importation into Canada here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/trace/783-import-export-cites-animals-canada.html

That said there are plenty of chameleon breeders, big and small in Canada who can ship to you. Some of the rarer species are a little harder to find but they do come available from time to time from private hobbyists. Watch the classifieds here. Reptile expos are another great place to pick up captive bred and unusual wild chameleons. Unfortunately the bigger shows happen in Southern Ontario. If you can wait that long, the CRBE show in September is the biggest in Canada and is worth the trip down. http://www.reptileexpo.ca/

The reptile shows generally have an abundance of veileds with a few panthers.

At the last reptile show in Kitchener though there were a few vendors with WC quads and a few other species I hadn't yet heard of.

Just have to be vigilant.

Captive Creations Canada is who I highly Reccomend purchasing a Cham from. They are located in Ontario and are also Chameleon forum members and will answer any questions you have. I purchased my male veiled from them and he is amazing. They also have some awesome looking panthers as well.
