Welcome to the forums!

Glad you're starting off at the right spot :)

Your cham looks to be hydrated. Eye's aren't sunken in and you can't see it's ribs which is a plus.

One thing i suggest is making sure your cham is well misted. Your cham looks like it's struggling with a shed. It's all brown/dark in the first pic probably because he/she is uncomfortable with its new environment/shed.

Hows your enclosure set up? Do you have a misting schedule? Vitamins? What are you feeding him/her and are you gutloading? What type of lights do you have?

To make things easier, fill out this https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/

Just copy/paste this with your info filled out in a new comment and we'll be gladly to go over your set up. From here we can make sure you're headed in a right direction.

I also question your chams sex because allot of the times sellers try and get new owners to buy females, making you think you bought a male which is common. Be sure to take some more pics of the chams rear-end. Pics from the vent (anus) to the tip of the tail will help members sex your cham. The first pic your got is perfect but he looks stressed out, so a better pic will help.

As for age, i'd roughly guess 2-3 months? It's hard to tell by the pics. Try to have him next to something to size him. Maybe him walking along a ruler's edge. BUT allow your cham to hang out and get used to their new environment for a good 2 weeks before you handle him/her. This will also help reduce stress.

Again welcome to the forums! :D

Welcome to the forums. They turn brown for various reasons and under normal conditions it is nothing to worry about. They get dark to asorb heat or just to hide. It can also be a sign of stress. I see you have plastic plants.I suggest you swap them out with live one.Live plants are far mor natural for the chams to live in .The also help keep the humidity up. You can add a 6500k plant bulb down the road to keep your plants thriving if you choose to go with live plants
