hey all,
I know you guys are going to want me to fill out the forum but I’m not home currently and I don’t know the names of everything.
But I think I have a pretty simple question, my chameleon shedded last month and a couple spot of black turned up exactly the same on both sides and he shedded again and more spots showed up exactly the same on both sides, is this normal or should I be concerned?

He should be being given regular calcium dust no d3 every feeding, calcium dust with d3 twice a month and your multivitamin keep giving him that twice a month. If a chameleon has a lack of calcium it will lead to metabolic bone diease. :)

Do you have suggestions of what brands for calcium, I thought the multivitamin counted as the d3?
The glass cage was for a starter set up and during winter months I’m going to be building a wire cage soon, if you have any helpful links to guides I would appreciate them!

Brand for calcium, I order mine online popular brands woul be repcal, and zoomed. The multivitamin does sometimes have d3 but its purpose is to give your chameleon more vitamins that he/she needs ( it says what types are in it on your package) , the calcium with d3 gives them the extra d3 that they need for digestion. What guides are you looking for, for the cage or basic husbandry?

@lydiadubb while most of your advice is helpful, it is false to say chameleons can't be kept in glass cages... its relative and depends which kind of glass, humidity, etc. The exo terras can do a great job, especially for species that require high humidity.

I do appreciate all the advice, but what about the large black spots on him. Are those ok? Or could those have something to do with the calcium?

Guide for the cage. How to build basically

Does your chameleon still have the spots as of right now? Their severity depends on whether they are temporary (change colours with the chameleon) or permanent (the spots are still there when the chameleon changes colours).

They are always there. They appeared after he shedded.

@kinyonga said . . . "that chameleon is definitely not well and needs to see a vet asap."
I agree with this. The only way to get a correct diagnosis is from trained professionals. We here can only go so far with our advice.
