Moments later i managed 2 catch this piC.. She really disliked my phone when i was handling her, she opened her mouth like threating to bite for the 1st time so i ditched the phone. As was discussed in one of your other threads about her, she looks nice and plump. I would say she is definitely gravied. Keep the laying bin in there and keep an eye on her. If she does not lay in the next couple of weeks or if she starts to go down hill, get her to a vet immediately. You do not want your beautiful girl to become egg bound.

By down hill wut do u mean?? 2day I FOUND HER UNDERNEATH HER ACTUAL POTS OF HER PLANTS.. Literally at the bottom of her enclosure? Should i just continue to just keep her laying bin moist? Should i do the the trashcan method? Should i shut up nd just let nature happen? Lol im just concerned about my chamm :0

A chameleon that becomes egg bound, will not only stop eating, but stop drinking as well. Watch for sunken in eyes, lethargy, loss of strength, digging or scratching at the bottom of the cage, and any changes in behavior. If she is as active and at the bottom of her cage so often, I would say that she needs to lay. There must be something about her current lay bin that she does not like.

If it were me, I would try putting her in something like a trash can with 10-12 inches of moist sand/dirt. Do not give her a way out, and do not look in on her constantly. She needs her privacy. You can put a small heat source over it if needed, but I don't think it will be necessary. You can try to come up with some way to look in on her as long as she cannot see you. Hopefully this will get her to lay. If not I would get her to a good herp vet ASAP.

The vet can confirm that she is gravid and, if necessary, give her oxytocin injections to induce egg laying. It is worth the cost of the visit even if it turns out she is not ready to lay. The alternative is that you get her there too late and she could die from becoming egg bound.

My intention is certainly not to scare you, but chameleons can go down hill very fast. My philosophy is that if there is any question, it is best to see a good herp vet. There are some great people on this site with A TON of information to share, but there is only so much that can be done online and with pictures.

Spending time at the bottom of the cage, as she has been doing, usually means she wants to lay her eggs. If she is not gravid however, it is likely there is something wrong. Either way, if she was mine, I would have an appointment to see my vet.

I really hope that she either lays eggs, or starts getting back to normal very soon! She is a beautiful little girl.

Hi there,
In my girl's case the bin I placed for her wasn't good enough for het, so she didn't touch it. But when she started to dig at the plastic bottom I put her in a deep garbage can with 12" deep moist playsand and she started to dig right a way. So keep your eye on her! Mine got eggbound and passed. Our guess was the size of the eggs and were too many. :( and she ate and drank until 2 days before she died.
I wish you and your gorl all my best and good luck!

Shes back to her normal behavior but being cautious.. Loving her colors tho.. :)
