This is Rellik. He is my seven month old Veiled and I was wondering if his casque was a sign of MBD because its bent. His limbs seem fine and he regularly eats and drinks. Please just analyze this for me.

Before anyone can really answer just based on a photo, tell us about your husbandry. What do you gutload and dust with? How often? What type of lighting (brands) do you use? Your husbandry info might help us determine if there's a potential problem or not. Some veileds' casques are a bit asymmetrical for no particular reason. His legs look OK.

I use two Repti Glo bulbs. I dust my crickets with miner-all from sticky tongue farms every other day, lightly, and i gutload them with carrots, apples, squash, and the occasional dog food. Is this okay for them? Sorry. I'm kinda new at this.

try to fill out this form as precise as you can to get the most accurate answers.

Are you using calcium w/d3 and a multi besides the minerall, which is just plain calcium?. The gutload is ok but I don't think I would use the dog food! Fresh veggies and fruits are best!

Chameleon Info:

My Chameleon – Veiled Chameleon. Six months old and 5.5 months in my care
Handling – Only when necessary i.e. Cage upgrades
Feeding –Crickets mostly. I give him mealworms too but only like once a month. A good ten crickets every other day because he usually doesn’t want to eat them after that many. Carrots, apples, melon, and I stopped using the dog food.
Supplements –Miner-all. 2:3 undusted to dusted ratio every feeding.
Watering – I am using my makeshift dripper and I mist about twice a day. I do see him drink off the leaves of his hibiscus.
Fecal Description –His feces is nicely formed and has a nice white part to it. I have not taken him to the vet since I have had him.
History – None.

Cage Info:

Cage Type – Large Reptibreeze 18" x 18" x 36" H
Lighting – I use two 10.0 Repti glo bulbs. From 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Temperature – Temperature for basking is ≈95˚F and the cooler spots are ≈85˚F. Overnight it is about 75˚F. I use a digital thermometer.
Humidity – Honestly I don’t measure the humidity. I’m sorry.
Plants – I put a 5 gallon hibiscus in the cage.
Placement – The cage is a good 3.5 feet off the ground and it is placed on a well fitting nightstand next to my bed. The top is about 6.5 feet off the ground.
Location –I live in Tempe, Arizona.

P.S.
I am new at this. Go easy on me but please tell me what I am doing wrong. This is my first cham and I do NOT want him to be my last. Thank you SOOO much.

Ok just a few things that you need to change! You need only ONE Reptisun 5.0, not a 10.0 and certainly not two. We all use this bulb and have no problems whatsoever. Your dusting should consist of three supplements. Calcium with d/3 twice a month, calcium w/o d3 at every feeding, and a multivitamin twice a month also. At that age you can also feed every day and cut back to every other as he gets a little older. Basking temp is too high. Should be around 80-85 max. Cooler spots should be in like the mid 70's. He needs a place to cool off. What are you using for a basking light? a 40-60 (max) watt housebulb is all you need. You could add another misting or two to help with the humidity and another opportunity for him to drink. I would find another alternate feeder besides mealworms. They are not the best, something, like silkworms, hornworms, or superworms instead.Other than that you are doing good! Oh and get something to measure your humidity. You want it around 50% on the low side in between mistings which will spike it.
