my chameleon is developing purple dots on his head near his mouth and is moving down his back, some are bumps but others just are smooth. but they are odd for a Jackson chameleon i think. im a bit worried, is it an infection?

he seems fine, and is changing colors and moving around. he seems healthy but im just a bit concerned.

He looks fine, but its hard to tell with the red lighting. ;/

Do you have a pic with him under a whiter light?

i could get one tomorrow, he has just fallen asleep, and he hates when i wake him. ill get back to you.

Ok.

My female gets dark in that area, I guess you could call it purple, at times.

If his skin becomes severely discolored, in an isolated spot, it could mean a lot of things, most likely (IMO) would be bruising, then some sort of fungal infection maybe. Thats all worst case scenario though. Like I said, he looks fine in that pick to me.

Is it just on the one side?

no its on both sides, i mean it looks like his skin color and all im just worried because one or two kind of look like small bumps.

Hmm ;/

Maybe a different pick will make it easier to see what you mean.
He looks fairly bumpy, all over to me! :p

Really though, I hope its fine, and will look for another pic tomorrow. ;)

its a heating lamp for him since the other ones i kept buying kept blowing out after only 2 weeks the lady at pet smart suggested a red colored one.

I would really recommend a white one.

It will replicate the sun better visually to the chameleon, and just be more natural. Any household style bulb will do, provided it gives off the right amount of heat.

only good ones i could get he was being camera shy.

Interesting.

It looks similar to bruising, but I would be interested to hear from someone who has experience with mouth-rot, and or fungal infections.

Im not sure what that is.

he isnt having issues with his tongue or mouth at all that i have noticed. its weird though.
could it be his colors? or is that abnormal?

I've never had mouth rot on my jacksosn, but in my panther she never had bruising. Just nasty swelling and goopy grossness.
