I received him yesterday from screameleons and they said he is almost a 4 month old male sambava panther born on 2-22-12. Does he look like a male and does he almost look 4 months old? He looks on the small side to be almost that age from looking at other picture's on the forum

To me, that looks like a very young female, but it's hard to be sure. Looks more like 3 months to me, and a better pic of the tail base from the side would help

I'll try to get a better picture of the tail base tomorrow if possible, He's still afraid of me and trying to figure out who I am and if I going to eat him.

Looks male 3 mo old, BUT you can trust Screameleons to be close to dead on. If they made a mistake, be rest assured they will take care of you...

Thank you, That's reassuring to know. He's hasn't eating to much in the past few days since I've received him. I've seen him eat 3 crickets the first day and 1 today. I also saw him lick the branch for water so I think he is staying hydrated. I Hope his appetite pick's up in a few more day's or so.

He looks male to me, his tail looks pretty thick and I think I see a slight bulge at the base in that last pic but it's a weird angel... also he has a lot of pattern for his age, if he was a female. I think the only thing that would make me second guess is how pink he is, and how no color seems to be coming in but since he is a sambava that would only make sense at such a young age. I think he is really small for 4 months? but about the right size for just turning 3 months. I am no expert though. Also screameleons doesn't make mistakes very often... but if they did I am sure they would help you out, however you wanted.

Screamealons is very reputable and I would trust what they tell you. Sometimes there can be mistakes made even by the breeder themselves. But if they say it was hatched on that date then believe them. They all are not the exact same size at every stage of growth. The Sambavas do take a little longer to color up so you have to patient! BTW he is a handsome little devil!!!!
