Drainage pan question

I work in the construction bisss so what id do is get a thin acrylic or ply wood. If you use ply wood id suggest Waxin/Oiling it to prevent water damage. Then rest it on top of the tray and Mastic (silicone) to tray. Then rest your Cage on top.

Get a substrate tray for the Reptibreeze cages, drill a hole and let it drip into a bucket. Dragon strand makes drainage trays as well.

If you're set on that pan, maybe you could cut pvc piping into 4" slices and stand them upright. Then you could drill holes in your cage bottom. I haven't tried this exact method, so please take it with a grain of salt ^-^

Yea.. I think im just gonna order a drainage tray from lllreptile, i dont think dragon strand is in stock.

You said that you thought they weren't in stock, so I wasn't sure if they were a first choice for you. I have one now and it's nice, but I understand the LLLReptile ones are good too ^-^

I use this one, since it was the smallest. It does come with a large bulkhead drain if you want to cut a hole in it, but the bulk would stick up half or quarter inch. The plastic is not too thin, but if you bend it, it might break. But it should last a few years, since that is what it's made for. Nobody replaces their washing machine drain pan every year. In the store, it was just under $20. The included bulkhead is also in the pick, so don't forget it at the store, although I think it's a 2 inch size. BUT, I bet if you insert the bulkhead with the screw underneath, and drill multiple hole in the top part, it would drain ALL the water nicely.

Yea, but its 28x30 and i want one thats kinda flush with the cage, and how would you set your cage ontop of it to let it drain?

Done with this shelf that fits into the washing pan. Another container will slide under the shelf to catch water, while the washing machine pan is the backup.

Seems like alot of work, and more money than it would cost just to buy a drainage pan from lllreptile, lol. And id rather not drill into my animal shelf i have atm.

I understand. I wanted a pan to slip under the cage, so that I can remove and toss out the water every night. To clean the other pans, you will need to remove the cage from the pan and place it somewhere else, then clean it. Also, if you use a drain pan with a hole, you need something to catch the water draining out, so you will need a shelf to place everything on any way, then a basin to catch the water underneath. So think about how you would accomplish all this.

You can also use a water vacuum for more frequent cleanings. They sell one that attaches onto a 5gal bucket at Home Depot

Yea, i have a little shelf thats the perfect size for it, but i dont want to drill into it incase i ever want to use it for something else, im gonna drill the drainage pan, attach a bulkhead and silicone some plastic tubing into it, and run the tubing into a bucket. Think it will work or nah?

Sure. Make sure that the bulk will completely drain and leave no water. You may need to drill some holes in the sides of the bulkhead.

Why does it have to drain and leave no water? I can drill it as low as possible, but there will probably always still be about a cm of water left in there..
