drinking habits?

my panther Wes seems to be a little dehydrated. I spray his cage all the time and a make sure that there is plenty of water for him to drink but i've never even seen him drink off of his leaves. i've only had him for a short time, though. his eyes are a little sunken (he's asleep right now; i don't wanna wake him up and take a picture) and yesterday a small part of his urate was dark orange (but most of it was white). I just got him some hornworms a few days ago as well, hopefully that will hydrate him some more. are there any other ways i can put more water in his diet?

There are some chameleons that just simply refuse to drink with an audience. But, if his eyes are already a little sunken in and his urates are turning orange, I would feel that he is not drinking whether you are around or not. I would definitely have a fecal done on him as soon as possible. Also, it can take some time to trigger drinking in chameleons. When my mistking turns on with my Melleri, it can be three to four minutes before they seem to realize that there is water to drink. That is why I do long watering sessions with my chams.

Have you tried to shower him? That is always a good step in the rehydration process. Also, maybe put a dripper over his cage so that there is a constant water source available all day...that may help. But, I would really love to see a picture of him and his enclosure just to make sure there is nothing off.

Have you had a fecal done in the last month?

no, i haven't tried showering him because there are lots of minerals in the water in my area. I have a dripper, but the branches don't reach to the top of his cage so he can't get to the drops. i haven't gotten a fecal either, because i've only had him for about a month or two.

I have one who is definitely a picky drinker. The shower method didn't work either, so I ended up basically bottle feeding him his H20. Take a clean syringe (you can get them at the drug store in the baby medicine section), fill with water and slowly drip it on his nose. Mine will start drinking almost immediately. Horn worms are also good as supplemental hydration for picky chams.
