Drip System Advice

Hi all,

about a month ago I decided to build my chameleon a misting system for his tank because I work so much and he needed something automatic. So I went to Home Depot and I purchased tubing, a small fountain pump, misters and a 10 gallon storage container.

I ended up returning the small fountain pump for a much larger (stronger) one, the small pump wasnt strong enough to the point where I couldnt lift the tank off of the ground or else the water wouldnt push through the tubing to the top of the tank. Now with the larger one he can be on a small table and far off of the ground.

There have only been two issues since building the system.

Problem #1: It doesnt mist, it only drips. Now im not entirely upset that this is happened because it means he'll get more water out of the system. But because it only drips, it leads to problem #2.

Problem #2: It drips so much and exessively that a lot of water ends up at the bottom of his tank and drains out of his tank and onto my carpet.

my question is basically what can I do about it? I have a timer but eat notch is 10 minutes of time, so 10 minutes of dripping is A LOT OF WATER. Is there anything I can put into his tank to keep the water inside (that would cause mold though, blech!!) or is there any way i can build a drainage system. Even better, How can i get it to mist?? The nozzles are misting nozzles so I dont know why it wont mist.

His tank is a screen tank 18x18x36in.

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated, thank you!! :D
