dripper question

I have purchased all the things, the enclosure (2x2x4), the lights thanks to @dshuld, the plants thanks to several people and the threads already posted in here, the mistking also thanks to everyone in here, I have some isopods on their way this week thanks to @jamest0o0 , so I'm well on my way to finally picking up my baby and starting my bioactive.... Just a few additional questions, with the mistking, do I still need a dripper? I purchased one, but had seen some people hate theirs, so wanted to verify whether people with drippers also use an automatic misting system.

I use one. I made an automatic dripper though because the little dripper made me nuts since it would stop working on and off... I do run one during the day but that is because I have a very high humidity here and so I only have my misting sessions 2 times a day. One in the morning before his basking light kicks on and one at 5:30pm when his basking light has kicked off. I run 3-4 minute mistings then but I like for him to have access to a constant water source as well.

Hi there! I’m not one of the pros on here, but figured I’d share my observations. I started off with just the mistking and after someone mentioned that providing more opportunities for hydration is not a bad thing I added a dripper. It just gave a more constant water source in addition to the periodic mists and I notice my panther taking advantage of it daily. On the other hand, I also had to address the additional water, so there is that.

Do a quality drip pan for water run off and you can either wet vac it or install a gravity drain in it to a bucket. :)

I just bought all the things you posted in your how to post to make the automatic. Excellent tutorial!

Awwww thanks. I had help from @JoXie411 on that one thank goodness. She made hers and so I bought similar stuff and once it all worked so easily together I figured I would make a thread for others. I am only 5ft 4 and Beman has a 4 foot tall cage on a cabinet... So I was having to climb up on a tall step stool twice a day to adjust the little dripper and fill it. lol It got very old.

I think it depends on how often you have to mist due to humidity requirements of your chameleon.

I'm using a glass enclosure and only mist twice a day. Once in the morning 15 minutes before the lights come on and once in the evening 30 minutes before the lights go off.

My humidity sits at 99% all night long so I haven't even had to worry about using a nighttime fogger either.

Oh, and I can confirm that the gravity dripper is in fact annoying as hell. It requires a valve cycle each time I fill it and it is never dialed to the same position, which makes it difficult to get the sweet spot of a slow drip consistently. The automatic drip that @Beman shows is definitely the way I am going to move toward as well!

Well, that's something I hadn't considered, I'm 5'1 lol, so yes, this should be a much better idea for me lol
