can home made dripper systems be made e.g. a tub suspeneded from the top of the enclosure with melted ice cubes dripped out a small hole into the enclosure. also is it ok if i just get a bottle fill it with water and use it to spray the enclosure? also how often should i do this?

don't use ice cube for dripping.
It's too cold for chameleon. they generally shy away from cold water.
Just use a plastic bottle and fill it with warm water (not HOT) and stick a fine needle at the bottom and let drip.

as far as spraying. you do need a mister so the water is fine enough.
if the water droplets are too big, it can cover baby chameleon's nostril and drowning him in the process.
You mist at least 2 times a day (5 minutes per misting -the enclosure has tobe really wet)

any jug with a pin hole will work..let the water drip off the leaves.. and put a cup under the leaves.. but make sure you empty the cup often or your cham will drown in it.. they can drown in very shallow water.. I use a 3 inch plastic cup.. so if he tries to climb in it.. he will knock it over or easily be able to get out.. as for the ice cube.. it might be to cold for him to drink.. just use warm distilled water.. mist 2-3 times a day plus the drip cup.. that should work well...

It is my opinion that if you're misting for a baby the misting time should be light, 30 seconds tops per session, and you should not mist the baby chameleon directly ... just the leaves and branches.
Do not get the enclosure "really wet".
A plastic cocktail cup with a pinhole in the bottom is a fine dripper for a baby's enclosure.
A few layers of paper towel below will take care of the excess water.

similiar scenero. i bought the zoomed dripper ($8) and put it about 17" from the top of the screen so that when the water hits the screen it tends to have a higher spray pattern. for excess water i got a lil crafty. i had too much coffee on this day so dont judge.

i took a rubermaid bin top and placed it under the eclosure. under the bin top on the back side i placed to solo cups cut to size (2") on the front end between the enclsure bottom and the bintop i put two more cups cut to the same size.

the enclosure is level and the bintop is slanted downward.

at "my end" of the bin top, i exacto knifed out a small hole and put a jug underneith it to catch the water.

too much time on my hands.. yes, no doubt about it. but it works and i can worry less about stagnet water and then mold.

also

i put got a duel out put air filter and attached two lines to it. i capped off the lines on the open end and then cut slights down it.
this is an attempt to provide air flow inside of the enclosure. has any one heard of or has tried somthin like this?

i made 1 from a peanut butter jar but im haveing to fill it about 3 times a day.its sitting on the top of my enclosure an dripping through the egg crate lid on to the plants.can 1 be made to regulate the drip

automated dripper system

Hello all just wanted to let some of you know we are in the works of a automated dripped system that after testing will be for sale on our site.

We will post it here when available

so how long should i leave my "big dripper" on for (i got the zoomed big dripper) and how long should i mist for and how many times a day with a spray bottle

dripper can be on while you are not at home to mist.
mist at least twice a day. 5 minutes long.

ok thanks btw how do i know when ive misted enough and the closer is humid enough..i have a humidity gauge and was told to keep it between 30-40 but how do i know the enclosure is wet enough:S

Make sure its really wet and humid in there, I never mist for more than 1-2 minutes or else the crix at the bottom would be drenched and probably die.

i was thinking if i did 5 mins of spraying my arm would soon drop off either that or id get really big muscles it aches after a while doing this LOL

I personally think it is a matter of preference. I mist about 1 minute a day 2 times a day, with a constant slow dripper.
