potted plant does soak up a limited quantity of water.
However, a dripper tends to create a puddle of water and when your plants sit to long on the litter box, its root will rot and create foul odor (smelled like a dirty aquarium water).
Plus, you will encounter an attack from fungus gnats.

All in all, if ignored, your plant will wither and die.

My suggestion (which i am going to do as soon as my cham is ready to move to a bigger cage) is drill the litter box bottom and also the plastic cage. Put some tube into the hole. and put the other end of the tube into a water reservoir.

In my cage I have the dripper drip through the leaves, and then down into a tuperware container that I have coverd with a mesh screen so crickets dont drown in it. I just dump it out whenever it gets full, and then replace back in the same spot. Seems to work well for me.
