Does anyone know what this is coming out from the back of one of my dubias?

It's like a dubia on a stick :p. But really, what is it?

Is it like an egg case or something?

Yeah that's what i was just reading on. I guess they lay one and then retract it back in to incubate. How many babies come from an ootheca?

It is an oothecae. It will have around 10-30 dubias. Well now you know they are havin naughty time. lol anyways when you see that try not to get close they can drop it early.

The ooth protrudes from the females body for a period of time shortly after the eggs are laid. The belief is that it is being dried before being retracted back into her body for incubation.
The incubation lasts from 25 to 30 days and about 25 to 30 babies should hatch.
I remember thinking it was some kind of ovipositer when I first saw one which really didn't make sense to me. Had to do a little research of my own that day.:)

The ootheca (plural, oothecae) must be formed (or laid) before it can be retracted into a special chamber in the abdomen for incubation. In your photo it is still being laid as it's upright, it will be flipped sideways then drawn in. (It is not being dried as drying would kill the eggs.) If the process takes more than a few hours the eggs will be damaged.

350,000,000- 400,000,000 years ago all the roaches had ovipositors.

Sometimes, when I feed females to my cham, the ootheca falls out just as the roach is being swallowed. This happens all the time with female Discoid Roaches.

Hmmm u sure it wasn't a feeding stick? so you don't have to touch the roach, you can just hold the stick and put it by your chams mouth?? haha j/k. That's what my wife said it was. :p

Thanks for all the info guys.
