Dubia roach breeding not going so well :S

i just got 100 with 3 extra adult pairs, and im gonna wait a month and start feeding the nymphs, but they should breed like crazy in the new orleans summer, they are gonna be in the shade under cover so they dont flood though. i should do well.

You should have started off with 100-200 dubias.

One of the Sponsors "Ken the bug guy" sells 100 for 35 dollars right now

He is doing a 30 dollar special right now.

My colony went from 100 to 200 in less than a month.

You should keep them in a dark part of the house since you are using a clear bin.. but not sure if that makes a difference.

Good luck!

i bought some from him at the show and would never do it again. no knowing anybeter they were half dead when i got them at the. i sent an email to him and never heard anything....dont waste yr money with his bugs. i then bought some more from http://aaronpauling.com/. what a differance. and his his customer service is awesome. thats just a bonus his roaches were alive active and waaay over count.

a solid color tub is better than a clear tub they dont like light or the sight of movement and it intimidates them in their feeding, if you keep a small dish of really wet water crystals (not directly over the heat pad ) then that should provide all of the humidity you need , keeping the egg crates vertical seems to work better and be more sanitary, keeping the temps 88-92* will double the growth and reproduction rate, i agree ap is a much better source for dubia and remember what your feeders eat your chams eat , so once your colony is up and running disco the dog food that comes with the dubia and feed them the same healthy gutload you would feed your chams, theyre roaches they will eat just about anything

only a moderator can delete a thread and im sure they will if they feel it is no longer useful, just because an older thread gets resurected doesnt mean that the information is no longer usefull, on any given subject there are usually others with the same questions
