I just got a small shipment of young Dubia roaches. With the order I was given a sample of powdery Dubia roach food. How am I to prepare it? Do I keep it as powder and put it in the container? Or do I add water or something else to it?:confused::confused:

:confused::confused: That you were able to get them, given your local. ;)

Yea I believe Dubias are illegal in Florida. I think discoid roaches are similar and legal :) lol. Yes the powder food just needs to be placed in a small dish/container they can get into. Offer some veggies, and you can also get water gels as a source of water.

Haha, they are illegal in Florida. I put the powered stuff on the veggies. Put like some cheap substrate such as bran on the bottom for nymphs to hide in. Egg flats are a good idea because feces fall to the bottom when vertical making easier to clean. Dry water crystals are what I use for supplying water as well as food.

The easiest dry food to make is 2/3rds dried fruit mix, a small amount of Oats, a small amount of instant potato mix, dry spirulina algae powder and a tablespoon or so of dried astaxanthin powder. The rest can be flax seed, dandelions, all kinds of stuff. Then you can have your alternating wet food like fresh fruits and veggies to give them. I've been using that dry food mix for several years with a colony of 5,000-10,000 roaches. Dry food is not hard to make just blend it up till it's the consistency of ground coffee.

Well, this website called BackWaterReptiles apparently ships them to Florida! :D
Thanks for the tips and concerns though!

Also, doe anyone have any comments to share on Mulberry Farms? Thinking of ordering silkworms from them. They have decent prices but don't know if they are reliable or not.
