dubia roaches

i keep mine in a 10 gallon glass aquarium, crickets also ( my husband ownes an aquarium/SW store so we have an abundance of tanks), so there is no climbing out. they go outside in the garage in the summer and reproduce like crazy... inside in a closet in the winter where they slow down breeding. we go back and forth between crickets and roaches as the main feeder, kinda depending on the time of year!! ;)

I use heat tape on a dimmer switch with my roaches. Also for a small colony a human heating pad can be used, you will have to find one that does not have an auto-off feature though.

I use big (45 and 50 gallon) rubbermaid storage containers for my colonies. If the plastic is smooth, they cannot climb out- make sure you buy a smooth tub, not a very lightly textured. I use flexwatt heat tape on the shelf beneath the tubs. 12" wide. I keep the heat tape on a herpstat thermostat. These thermostats have safety features and alarms.
