can you replace crickets as main feeders with dubias? i was looking at lllreptile and the dubias are pretty pricey...but i do like the fact that they live alot longer than crickets and have no odor and easier to gutload. BUT...its just something about breeding roaches in my house that doesnt feel right. would leaving it outside be too cold?

No, variety is key. Plus, chameleons like dubias, but sometimes they are too slow to catch the chams eyes. Then they slowly creep in to corners and hang out there until you clean out the cage and find them. However, if they move fast enough on the screen, chameleons eat them and like them. Just use a variety of feeders and you will do your chameleon the best.

Its likely they arent going to do the best outside.(though they wouldnt die)

They need a constant temp of 85-90F, to breed and grow rapidly.

They are super easy to keep and breed, and make an excellent addition to the feeders you offer. I highly recommend them, they are not as bad as youd think.

I just started breeding Dubias

I like them alot better than crickets becuase they breed eaiser, and though the they are roaches they smell less than crickets. If you make the switch you will still need to buy crickets at it takes months to set up as breeding colony so that you can have all sizes of dubia that you can choose to feed.

i just got my dubias from a local breeder , thy are amazing i mean i love them ! they are the best - i mean other roaches are so disgusting and run all over the place , plus their size, no smell , easy breeding , non climbers, non infesters is a big plus !

You can look in the classifieds here. Theres always some for sale, and sometimes some REALLY good deals. You can also look locally. If there are reptile keepers around you, chances are someones dubia colony has grown huge, and they are selling them.
