Dubias

I have never used dubias for feeding or any kind of roach for that matter. But can they climb up walls and are they fast?

They can't climb up glass, but I've seen some males and some babies crawling up the side of my plastic container.

Dubias can't climb just about anything, unless it's textured. Other roaches can though. Dubias also are pretty slow usually, but they can be speedy when they need to. They're nowhere near as fast as most roaches though. Supposedly male Dubias are capable of [clumsy] flight, but I've never seen it happen.

can they get on the tops?

I have screens hot glued in the sides and tops of a giant rubbermaid container. I use this for both crix and roaches.

I see the crix make it to the side screens all the time. Jumping from a middle eggcrate up to the wall. Luckily, they can't reach the lid from it.

The roaches however, I never see them make it anywhere. They occasionally try to climb, but seriously, they are like the vertically challenged.

Dubia: can't climb smooth surfaces. Are pretty slow, and very tasty according to Norman. They also do not stink, and for me are easy to handle.

Hissers: Can climb, and get really big.

Lobster: Avoid at all costs. Can escape from alcatraz, give off a nasty smell, and a fast as hell
