Dusting Issue..

Fella, my 4-5 month old Yemen, is refusing to eat dusted food..

I know I can force liquid calcium into him, but I wanted to get some balanced opinions and advice regarding alternatives.

He is happy to eat anything not dusted.

I am using Pure Calcium dust on every meal, which he refuses..

I am dusting with C+D3 once a week, he refuses this also.

I am considering mixing the dust into feed for the Dub's and introducing calciworms, am also wandering if it would be "safe" to feed the Dubs Cheese and Yoghurt, if I make sure to remove any uneaten daily..

Any thoughts suggestions appreciated, as I really do not like the thought of force-feed.

So I am being far to soft..

OK two can take up a picket line...

I will relent if he has not eaten in 5 days.... then as a measure.

Thanks

Good idea.

I spoiled my male veiled when I first got him and started feeding him hoppers, after which he would not touch crickets. At all.

I went to see my breeder and he told me that a healthy chameleon will not starve itself to death and would eventually eat the crickets if he became hungry enough. And sure enough he did.

Let me know how you get on! :)

Least I can do is keep posting :)

I am off on holiday next week for one week, and this is making me nervous as I will be leaving "Fella" with my house sitting relative.

I have bought in 200 Calciworms for that period, as dusting food is a lot of work to ask anyone to do, instead I am going to put a thin layer of dust in the worm feeder, and ask that ten worms a day are put in.

Then I am going to prey that he eats whilst I am gone.

But I will keep you posted on my return.

Try using a different brand.
I had a cham that refused to eat anything dusted with a certain brand of calcium.
I changed to Repashy, and he ate them!!

Some chams are picky! go figure!!

I usually give my Jackson's a couple dusted crickets along with some un-dusted. Seems to work good for me.:)
