Dusting?

Do you all dust every insect or just crickets? I've just been dusting crickets, which have been the main staple thus far. I don't think I need to dust BSF larvae since they have a good ratio, but what about bottle fly larvae and the adult flies? Roaches? Silkworms? Waxworms? Thanks in advance.

I dust my staples: crickets and roaches

But I also dust worms on the rare occasion, usually not though.

I dust my bottle flies about half the time too

I would like to dust the roaches, but I'm concerned as he doesn't always eat as many as I put in there, or he may shun them entirely some times when I offer them. If I return a dusted roach to its bin, I wonder if it will have any ill effects on the roach. He eats them eventually.

I throw them back in the bin with no problems. I usually hand feed roaches though. If he eats them outta the cup, more power to ya!

I've still been feeding him right off a piece of egg crate. I'm going to have to think about how to add the dusting process. Sprinkle directly on the insects and the egg crate prior to placing it in the cage, or collecting the roaches, dusting, and returning them to the egg crate. I'm sure I'll try both possibilities. We are only just accepting hand feedings with worms at the moment.

I'm not sure I care to touch the roaches to be honest. too tickly.

I wore gloves when I first got them, now I don't mind. I wasn't saying you have to hand feed, just mentioning what I do. Whatever gets them into your cham' s belly

I hand feed what I call "treats", things that all my chams hit fast, like silkworms, hornworms, waxworms, moths and stick insects daily. Once a week I lightly dust whatever treat they get that day with Herp-a-Vite, that way they get their vitamins.
I lightly dust staples like crickets, various roaches, superworms and flies with Repti-Cal (no D3 since chams are outside 24/7) twice a week for adults and juveniles and every other day for gravid females. once a month I dust with Repti-Cal with D3 for those I keep in low light areas.
