Ease out impacted sperm plugs?

try bringing this up at the water cooler huh? lol
if there is a next time, hopefully you will be able to apply what you learned this time around and knock it out.

i was just thinking that logically for them to even have a chance at removing it, one way or the other, contact with the plug was going to be made with tweezers or a needle, and while contact was being made loose water molecules would have no problem making their way to the plug allowing it to act as a capillary siphon. But that is way beyond water i know that now, and to think i thought water molecules were notorious for migrating into anything and everything. Now i know frost heaving is just a myth after all.
But since " NONE " of the surface is exposed UNLESS probes are inserted, they should have just disregarded my experience.

Sandy, this could be the reason he is so mean...
He has already changed since the procedure. His colors have calmed down a little bit. He was ALWAYS wearing his outrageosly gorgeous "fired up" colors, at all times. No doubt because he had chronic pain. And when I would even just walk past his cage he would lunge at the door, biting it, trying to get out to kill me. So, no doubt he blamed me for his pain. But already today he has stopped lunging at me, even when I open his door.
The swelling is diminishing, and his tail base and vent are looking normal, instead of stretched out beyond maximum capacity.
Here are photos of his privates:
MY HUSBAND IS NOT SQUEEZING HIM IN THIS PHOTO. HIS FINGERS ARE THERE TO SHOW SCALE. The size and shape may be somewhat normal for a pardalis, but not for a veiled. We gave him silk vines to hold onto under the towel.
THE FIRST NIGHT WE WORKED ON IT WE WERE ABLE TO EXPOSE A LITTLE OF THE ONE SIDE. WE REMOVED ONLY ABOUT 1/2". YOU CAN SEE HOW THE VENT FLAP AREA IS SWOLLEN. THE TISSUE HAD BEEN IRRITATED FOR SOME TIME. I realize it's something we should have noticed earlier, except that it was not exposed, and I don't normally examine that part of a healthy male chameleon. We have only owned him since March, and this may have been developing when we purchased him.

Wow....that is swollen looking. I bet it did cause pain. That is something that took a long time to build up. I bet he had a problem long before you got him in March. That's interesting that his behavior has changed so much too. Besides not being in pain anymore, it means you were very gentle in you way of working on him

Ow, Ow, OW!!! that poor little dude.. I am crossing my legs looking at those plug photos, THAT had to hurt.
So glad Sandy you were observant and didn't blow off his behavior to just being "mean".
In horses you have to clean out the sheath of a gelding once in awhile because there can be build up.

The thing is I did put her in with him at 11 months. She's such a big solid girl, and eggy, that I saw no reason to wait until she reached 12 months in July. She was receptive to him, and he got in all the right positions, but nothing really happened. Poor Bertha must have been wondering "what is up with this guy!". I tried a different female and the same thing happened. But it wasn't until the other day that I overcame denial and summoned up enough courage to examine him.
Once he's had a little time to heal we'll try again. The bloody plug tells us there was inflammation and bleeding on that side, and possibly infection (though no pus was extracted by the vet).

Just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful information here. My boy Luciano had 2 sperm plugs. I gave him a warm bath and was able to remove them myself. I was concerned and reading into it made me feel better and I am sure Luciano is more grateful than I am. Cheers

hi, after reading this thread i learned a lot of things and began soaking my male veiled in warm water for 8minutes and then tried pulling out 2 big plugs stuck in his hemipenis. im a little worried because it's been 10minutes passed and one of his hemipenis has not pop back in. could this be a prolapse? before pulling the big plug his hemipenis was not exposed. i carefully pulled the plug im sure i did not hurt him. i need suggestions please

You need to start a new thread titled something like Sperm plug help. Lots of people seeing how old this tread is may not read all the way to the end where your info is. Putting your thread in the health area will get you more help.

Today I noticed a quarter-inch hair thin string hanging from my male panthers penile flap. Its whitish-clear looking. Could this be a plug? I also noticed he was much more aggressive today... he is usually very docile but today he was hissing and opening up his mouth. Whats the deal? Thoughts?
