Eating soil

Hello my cham is 4 months old and veiled man. today the tryed to catch crickets but he take soil and ate it. can it make sick my cham ?

It's not a good idea to let him eat soil, it could cause impaction. Where did he get soil from? If a pot plant, cover soil with large flat rocks to some mesh. If you have soil at the bottom of viv, best to remove it. For the time being keep a close watch on him to make sure he is pooping.:)

he just caught soil from pot with cricket and eat it.i will put some rocks on it . i hope he will not be sick.
 
He is my first cham.and i try to keep him healty i realy fall in love to him. How it can be fine ti eat soil ?
 
Because soil, as long as he didn't eat a piece of wood or perlite, is small and particulate. So it's made up of lots of very tiny pieces, like tiny grains of sand and soil. So that is much easier to move through the digestive tract than something that is one big, solid piece. Especially if your chameleon is well hydrated, there is more lubrication in his system.

Female chameleons will eat the sand their lay their eggs in to taste it, to see if it is good sand, and they are fine. Otherwise we would never see females that survive laying eggs if they all drop dead from eating a little bit of sand! So a little is ok.
