Eatting dirt

so for some odd reason my 8month veiled Cham keeps eatting dirt. I have a ladder in his cage and at the bottom is his plant that has dirt in it. He will often go down to the bottom of the ladder and eat the dirt. He has done it 3 times already today and it is only 12:08pm. He ate 3 crx this morning as well as a super worm and refuses to eat anything else. He has never eaten dirt before (besides one time where a crx was in the dirt and he got a lil from it). He is generally pretty healthy and eats every other day. I try to give him at least 10 large crx then I give him some worms and veggies and that will be it for his feeding days. I don't know why he is doing this pls help.

Try covering the dirt with rocks. Stark tried to eat dirt too then I covered it and its all better. I have no idea why they do it though

Just regular rocks from outside? I will clean them a lol then add them in. It's so frustrating bc he won't eat his insects but he will eat the dirt!!!

So I found this bad of rocks that we use for decorations in our back yard. I am going to boil some water, pot the water over the rocks to kinda disinfect them then clean them with a reptile soap I have that I use to clean his cage with. Thanks for the wonderful idea!!

Just make sure they are not sharp in case he falls

Is your cham eating well or being picky?
I was not thinking you were doing it wrong. :)
Just today he is being a lil stubborn. He did eat 3 crx and a large superstorm so he did eat something. The day before yesterday (his feeding day) he ate 23 crx, and 4 super worms lol he could just be full?

All of your plants should not have exposed soil. You do not want him ingesting anything that could potentially cause him to get him backed up and get impacted. Rocks should be large enough so that he also can't ingest them. Home Depot / Lowes carries River Rock that is big enough not to cause potential problems. Veileds are well know to be chewers on plant material. Make sure ALL live plants you have in his enclosure is on the safe plant list. You do not want him eating anything that is potentially toxic to your cham. You can find that list in the Resources tab. You can research about what actual fruits and vegi's you can offer your veiled. Give um a variety.

The rocks that I put in there seem big enough for him not to eat but I will double check when I get home. He has two draceneas in his cage (on the safe list) . I have been told that if you give him fruits and veggies, it makes him sick and it's not heathy. I will occasionally give him fruits and veggies but only if he is not eatting at all.
