Egg bound

I've never had the problem, but its when a female chameleon doesn't have a laying bin, and dumps her eggs on the bottom of her cage, but retains 1 or 2 eggs which eventually get infected inside her.

It is when the female cannot lay eggs. It could be due to various reasons such as not having a proper laying area . If they cannot lay the eggs, they will die.

eggbound means she cannot lay the eggs. If she dumps them, then she has layed them so to speak. sometimes they can even have the bin and still not lay.

Eggbinding is a serious condition of being unable to lay eggs for either medical, nutritional or environmental reasons. Metabolic bone disease caused by inadequate calcium or UVB can cause it, as can just poor nutrition in general. Lack of a laying bin, or an inappropriate laying bin can also cause eggbinding. Some females are more prone to it than others for some reason, but having been bred or not has nothing to do with it. It is fatal if not treated, and unfortunately is a common problem.

i bought a so called male graysful at a local pet store they sold it to me as a male and about a month later there is eggs at the bottom of the cage and since we had no idea it was a female she died the next day we think she might have gotten egg bound.
