In one of my previous posts someone said:

Do you have anything like broken up egg cartons (that have not been used for eggs) or such in there for them to hide in?

And I have yet to find a straight answer - is it or is it not ok to use cardboard egg-crate that was previously used for eggs?

dont lizards have samonella...???lol wtf?...the egg crates are fine if no eggs broke in them..ive been using them for alot of years now..(maybe like 16 now i think) i dont have kids (hate them) but i think only old humans and and rugrats are the only thing really sensative to that anyway..i say its fine..wouldnt your fridge be covered in samonella where you keep eggs anyway, and wouldnt it spread to the whole fridge if so???..i say use them..:D

Yeah, I agree. As long as no broken eggs were in the crates, they should be fine. I've used them for many years ..more than 16, I'm sure ...but not keen on dating myself :p

You can also buy egg crate flats online ..various vendors have them.

sometimes i will also use the drink tray holders that you get from mcdonalds or any other restaurant...just another option

yeah the oven tricks works good. just make sure you grab a seat and sit and watch it lol. dont want a fire breaking out because a hunk of last weeks pizza decides to start a fire :p

those work great too(just havent gotten any drinks latley since i ride a motorcycle, i get bottled drinks, no cup holders, boo..lol)

You can use these Jiffy Strips too. They are little peat pots sold for starting plants. Pretty sterile, inert peat and paper pulp or something. I use these for roaches and crickets along with egg crate.

Can you put them in the microwave for a couple of minutes? That's what is recommended for sanitizing kitchen sponges.

I've developed a fondness for cardboard tubes. My family now hates me for making them collect the toilet paper and paper towel tubes. I just find it really easy to reach in, grab a tube and shake crickets into a bag.

i actually have just recently been doing the same, they do work out great...the only thing i have noticed is they like to drag their dry gutload into the tubes, so you need to make sure to dump that out (along with their poop) before shaking out the crickets
