Egg shells?

Would giving feeders eggshells rinsed out with hot water be a good source of calcium? I have plenty of eggs :p bought a whole carton for some monitors and rats.

IMHO...unless they have come from cooked eggs, I wouldn't use them...they could carry bacteria. If I use them I crush them with a mortar and pestle after I remove them from the cooked eggs and they have dried off/out.

So, fix egg salad for the family and use the shells for the feeders? Cool...

I'll note that if the monitors and rats like raw eggs, it's still possible to toss the shells into water and bring them to a boil for a few minutes to kill the assumed bacteria.
