My chameleon is 15 months old and just layed her first clutch of eggs and she had 9. I have been reading and heard that they can have up to 30 and iam worried she may have some left. Any thoughts or comments would be appriciated

What species?

Did she fill the hole in?
Did she see you watching her?

How much have you been feeding her per week?

she is a vieled
Yes she filled in the hole i left her alone the whole time she was diging
and she normaly eats about 20 large crickets a week and i put meel worms in ocasionaly about 5 to 10 a week but she stoped eating about 3 days ago and was restless and spending alot of time pawing at the cage and crawling around the bottom so i got a box of sand sprayed it routienely until i felt it was suitable for digging and i put her in this morning and checked on her once in the afternoon and she had dug a hole and when i got home tonight the hole was covered so i put her back in her cage and unburried 9 eggs

You should be leaving the laying bin in with her all the time. She has to have the option of laying her eggs whenever she wants to. I usually cover the front of my females cage with a sheet when she is ready to lay and never remove the bin until I see that she is skinny and at her basking spot and ready to take food. That usually indicates that she is done but is no guarantee. It will take my female a week to dig her hole and fill it in after laying once she starts displaying the behaviour. She will dig a couple of test holes over the week. Bottom line is, its best to give her access to a laying bin at all times rather than taking her out and putting her in one.

9 doesn't seem like very many. The female should lay all the eggs at once so I hope she did lay them all. If she shows any signs of going down hill you will need to get her to the vets asap. Fingers crossed that she laid all the eggs.

As was said, its best to leave the container in the cage all the time so a female can dig/lay when she needs/wants to.

so i took her to the vet had xrays done and found that she still had many eggs left inside so she got the oxytocine shot and they toldme to bring her straight home put her where she layed the first nine on the way home she deficated and layed one egg in her box and shes been where shes been laying for 6 hours and i came home to find nothing......doesnt anyone know if the shot take a while?

You said she laid 9 in the first place and more on the way home....hopefully that's all. I think the oxytocin works quite quickly when it works.

i had x rays done and she has more than 15 left in her and she has had 2 oxytocine shot and shes laid one egg after every shot

In the first post in this thread you said your chameleon laid 9 eggs...then you said after you took her to the vet she laid 9 on the way home + one more then you said you had x-rays and she has 15 more inside her and laid one more egg after the second shot of oxytocin...so are you saying she still has 14 more in her? Is this right? If she still has more eggs (not round follicles) inside her then she will need to have them dealt with or she will likely die eggbound soon.

no she layed one on the way home from the first shot then the next day one more on the way home so that puts her at 11. she still has a considerable amount in her and the vet hasnt offered another solution to getting them out. IS there another way?

thats what i have been reading but the vet never gave me that option but iam seeing another vet tommorow because the first vet doesnt seem to care and juz wants to keep giving oxytocin shot thst obviously dont work. Do you know if that is a coomon surgery and if there is a high sucess rate?

Eggbinding happens far too often so the surgery has become necessary. There have been more successes as each year passes. The vets seem to have learned more that makes it work.

Good luck with her!
