emergancy.... my jacksons just had babys ... i didnt know she was even pregnant ... can i have som info on the babys ... do they need to be housed sepret any special treatment?
 
Yes, definiely house them separately. For now, you can put them in a ten gallon glass with a screen top. You will need some pinhead crickets. The aquarium should be significantly cooler than that of your adult Jacksons. Now I'll leave it to the experts. Congratulations by the way! Jackson's babies are adorible. You should post some photos! Relax, everythng will be ok.
 
i believe you can also use fruit flies as feeders. they are usually available at local per stores.

Congratulations. post some pics when the shock wears off.

i would also PM dondeb562 about a month ago had baby jacksons and might be a great help

thanks on the info... u think i can house all 7 in a ten gallon,i was reading on breeding where it states that they should be separated from each other within a week but it didnt say anything about separation from the mother should that be done immediately

I have all my babies in one baby screen cage. The first 2 weeks they were eating fruit flies. Now they are eating 2 week old crickets, fruit flies and small pheonix worms. They are 4 weeks (turing 5 weeks on monday) old now and are all doing great! I mist them severeal times a day. As long as you keep lots of food available it should be ok for a little while to house them together. When you start to notice some growing larger then others you should probably seperate so the smaller ones do not have to fight for food. Remember the main thing is to not ever heat them the jacksons do not like hot temps.
 
thanks there are 7 little ones... i still have them with there mom i haven't removed them just yet ... doing some research but i cant find anything about the mother causing harm to her young any one know if that's a trait on jacksons... ( so far shes very tame hasn't even approached them yet )
 
thanks i just set them up in a temp glass tank 18x18x24 luckily i had one laying around it was kinda unexpected... i thought she was just a little fat cause i spoiled her with food little did i know she was pregnant... bought her that way .. also read she could store sperm after mating once which could be the case because when i bought here she was housed with one other female
 
Be careful with the glass tanks-Jacksons babies need a bit cooler temps-you don't want to overheat them. Do you have pinheads or fruit flies ready-they will eat pretty quick.
 
thanks im going to keep a close eye on the temp its staying constant at 74 f right now ...im going to be getting another exo terra screen cage asap and i have som pin heads ready ... any more suggestions
 
The fruit flies seem to be a better starter in my opinion. They are pretty slow to start with their reflexes and with the flies being so slow verses the crickets they do much better on them to start. You can actually order the fruit flies on line and do the cultures yourself.
 
im having a hard time finding fruit flies in miami fl..does any one here know where u can by some... im looking them up on the net but i was hoping to buy them asap and avoid the shiping time

I think if you email them they will overnight ship to you. I'm not SURE but if you tell them what is going on, they may do it. Ed and Liddy are REALLY nice. They're busy though, so when you email them, I would put "urgent" in your email title! Sometimes otherwise it takes a while for them to get back to you.

you want the Flightless Drosophila Hydei Culture These come with about 200 fruit flies in a seperate cup from the culture. I bought the three cultures. Better deal and they take about 3 weeks to hatch, so better to get the 3 anyways.
