I posted last night about losing my veiled chameleon Kaiju (JuJu for short) and he made his way to the mock enclosure but he has skin missing from the tip of his tail and on his back leg. I've contacted the vet and I have $3000 saved to care for him in case of an emergency but the vet that specializes in reptiles won't be in until tomorrow morning. The skin looks red there's no blood dripping and he's walking around fine drinking his water off of his pothos vine his tail can curl completely and he can grasp things fine as well. I put in some crickets and he hasn't gone for those yet. What should I do until the vet tomorrow?

The leg where the skin is missing is a different color but he can still move it

I'm glad that you found him. I'd put some neosporin on those raw places until you can get him to the vets tomorrow.

So good news the vet said he's going to be fine. :) They gave me 10 doses of antibiotic to feed to him once a day for ten days and she gave me this triple antibiotic cream to put on his wounds twice a day. There are no broken bones and he's back to his normal color. I'm thinking he got into the mesh part underneath our couch and got stuck deep inside and then forced his way to the mock enclosure I put on the floor which is why I couldn't find him when I first lost him. So I'm thinking the mesh ripped off his skin or something. He seems happy and is drinking plenty of water and ate about 9 crickets, not his average 15 but I'm glad he's getting his appetite back. Thanks everyone! I'll never leave his cage open like that again lol until he's full grown so he can be a free range cham.

Do you have loose crickets in the house? They can do some damage to the chameleon. Glad he is back where he belongs.

When I first got him I bought 100 crickets and I made the mistake by opening up the bag thinking they would stay put so I lost at least 10 crickets. I will probably never know where he ended up and how he found his way back to me but I'm just so happy that he's safe now. <3
