Enclosure advice

Anybody got any improvements or ideas or any advice for my chams enclosure. It is fully bioactive with a wide range of plants. He has a 60 watt heat bulb and a t5 uvb strip light. He has drainage balls and charcoal chips for drainage and a mixture of coco soil and top soil for substrate however the bottom is covered in moss and leaf litter. The hammocks and bridge are only temporary until I have something to fill the top right corner for him to bask under his uvb.

Welcome to the forum! It looks like your little one gets too close to the lights. I’ve copied and pasted a husbandry form below for you to fill out. You can copy and paste and add your answers. Lift the lights off the direct top so he doesn’t get burnt. His cage should really be upgraded to a 24x24x48in minimum asap. Just a few things I see right away could use adjusting. There is a few other things but this form will help give a clearer picture.

Chameleon Info:

  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with, and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long do you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high-traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Hi. I agree that his enclosure is a bit too small for him. Being arboreal, he needs more height. Perhaps I can offer some inspiration with one of my bioactive enclosures. This is for one of my panthers and I’m fortunate to have the space to provide him (and all of my chams) with a double wide…4’ tall, 4’ wide and 2’ deep. This was when it was freshly set up, so some plants didn’t do well and others have grown in like crazy.
