Enclosure location?

Hi,
I'm new to the site and looked to see if there were any threads on enclosure location, I didn't see one so I wanted to know where people keep their little guys so they can actually see them. I got my first chameleon about two months ago. Sebastian is a six month old blue bar or red bar (I can't remember which) ambilobe chameleon. He seems to be doing pretty good, but I researched a lot before purchasing him :). Anyhow, he has his own room right now with his lights and misting system on timers. I leave my house at 5am and don't get home until around 6pm so needless to say he is sleeping by then. Anyhow, I want to make sure he is happy, healthy and I get to see him. But I don't want to put him in my living room because of his 12 hour day/night cycle, any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

I have my guy in the rec room, light timers set for 9am-9pm. It works since I'm not in the room till an hour after the lights come on and when his lights turn off I can turn the lights off on his half of the room. With your schedule you pretty much need him on the schedule he's on since you have to feed him at some point. If you're able to turn the lights off in half your living room you could put him there and enjoy him while he sleeps.
As far as species goes he doesn't look like a red bar, he may be a blue bar but he looks like something else.. They get the names from the colour of their bands.

If there is someone else in the house that can feed him during the day, you could gradually set the light timers ahead until you get to a 9-9 kinda deal, at least then he'll be awake when you get home

I have my cages in a spare with that has a computer which is used at night sometimes. I just cover the cages with a thick sheet that does not let the light shine through.

Thanks for the info, I might try to change his schedule a little bit. I have just been worried about the light that can get in the room and I don't want him to get woken up too early :). I usually feed him right before I leave in the morning, but when my husband gets back from his deployment I may be able to convince him to feed him for me so I can put him on a 9-9 schedule, that would be awesome! He may be a ambanja panther but I can't remember I bought him at a reptile show and I can't remember the vendor, but either way he is very pretty and seems to be staying pretty healthy :).

I like to have my boys near me. I am also up early and they are heading to bed when I get home. I cover their enclosures after they are settled in for the night. I use a large dark colored tablecloth that I got on clearance at Target (while they were stealing my credit card information)...

I don't understand having them in a place I never spend time, but I feel the same about any pet...dogs that iive in the backyard...

But thats just me, some consider them part of a collection I consider them part of the family :D

Oh and Welcome to the forum!

Thanks so much, yea I'm the same way. My dog and cat live inside, horses have to be outside :). And that's part of the reason I wanted to see what other people do because I never see him, apart from when I clean his cage or feed him and he gets very upset and shows it. I'm hoping he will eventually tolerate me being around. I did just start giving him a "shower" once a week for 30 minutes on a money tree (I put him on the tree with semi warm water spraying off the side of the shower so a mist goes over the tree), and that may help too.
