Enclosures and animals

Perfect! I am looking to purchase a carpet the beginning of September! I've been trying to do some research on their husbandry! As well as temp and humidity requirements!

Kevin, I see in a lot of your photos adult or sub-adult females being kept together. Do you do this regularly? Do you think this works because you have them together from a young age? I've always read that carpets are some of the most aggressively territorial chameleons. Your cages look great by the way. I'm all about naturally planted enclosures. Are they the zoo-med terrariums? What size works for you with carpets (and campani)?

Hey Frank,

Yep-it's standard for me to house 2-3 females together now. I wasn't brave enough to experiment like this until about 3 years ago when I was hatching out so many that I decided to take some chances. They do fine and do not show aggression or stress when raised together. I suspect it may not work as well if they were alone for a length of time, but I could be wrong. All of the lats you see in the pics are sisters and cousins raised together since hatchlings. I have never tried it with WCs or ones that I haven't hatched myself. This also applies to females only. I would never try with male/male or male/female.

The cages pictured are Zoomed Naturalistic Terrariums and are 18"x18"x24". I use it for the campani as well. :)

I just got my very first chameleon and my set up looks similar to yours, I have some questions though, I was told that like an indoor/outdoor carpet should be used... but right now I have like a mulchy ground... is that okay for my little guy ?

OMG!

U NEED to get those chams in SCREEN cages and u r going 2 burn them with those lights resting on the screen and NEVER keep 2 chams in the same cage and U can't use substrate.

U R KILLING THEM!!!

:D just kidding.

I love your setups!

Awesome that is great information. I like those cages a lot. If I need more cage space in the future I am going to go that route (the zoo med cages) as I definitely don't have the motivation to build another system!
