Most of my family have read this book and say it is a great book. However after watching this movie I'm going to have to read this book too.

Saw it today , I was disappointed with the movie -not the books- I like the books-more than the movie-
I went with my kids (who are both in their 20s) My daughter hated it as it departed too much from the books- my son was more understanding as to the difficulty in keeping to the story- I always like Ender's Shadow better than Ender's Game as far as the books went- and I wanted more Bean and less Ender. I didn't hate it - you'll be fine reading the books after the movie- it's always easier that way (I'm still pissed that they skipped the last chapter totally in the Lord of the Rings)

That is too bad for you that you did not like the movie. Most everyone I know has had a good review of the movie. They stated it for the most part stayed to the details of the book.

I normally prefer the books to movies anyways.

I didn't dislike the movie- for the most part it did stick to the book- I don't know how it could have been done better without making it way longer -

I read the books in high school. I recall my Jr. Year English teacher allowed me to write a report on it when the assignment was to read and report on a classic. I told her it was better written than most of the real classics and she agreed it would undoubtedly prove itself over time and approved it.

I haven't read the books in 20 years now, but am excited to see the movie. I'm glad to hear they did a good job. I am a huge Sci Fi fan and there are far too few good Sci Fi movies out there.

the movies are NEVER as good as the books. Im always disappointed. I'll see this movie, and probably enjoy it, but still be disappointed because there's not way it can match the book and no doubt elements will be changed to make it box office friendly.

I tend to look at it as the movies are different than the books. A movie is like candy whereas a book is a full meal. Some movies are fine chocolates while others are sweet tarts, books the same, there are tv pulp dinners and masterful 5 course gourmet meals. There is enough variety in both to satisfy the gourmet and the masses. But if you live off candy your mind will atrophy and fall off.

I can't wait to see the movie myself. But I know it will never match what I got out of the books.

I'd like to hear what you think after you see the movie- I thought they did fine with the first 3/4 -and cut corners with the ending- I'm going to get out my audio versions listen again -

Movies are similar to food, some people just have preferences that other people do not prefer. While others time they concur with each others choices.

My mother and brother read most of these books and said they think the movie for the most part stayed true to the details of the book. I want to read this series or at least the first book eventually although I have got many books on my list ahead of this series (Robotech Series). Movies are different deal than the books. Books are based on your own imagery in your mind while movies are based on imagery on whats in the director and producers mind. Along with there is a lot less detail in movies due to time constraints and lack of budgets that normally does not apply to writer with books. I think that is normally why books exceed movies when it comes to detail and may always trump movies in that area.
