well thats a first for me...never seen a tame tokay before....they def are awesome looking geckos.....im thinking of getting an electric blue day gecko....i just need to do a little more research on them.....
You should get them, the whole lygodactylus family is great, all really personable geckos, but fast especially the williamsi.
Put some honey on your finger and they will come running.
Syn, wasn't it easier to tame cuz it was injured?
I know prettykitkat (something like that) has tame tokays that were WC.

He hasn't ever latched on my finger. The worst he has done since I've gotten him calm enough to mess with, was lick my fingers like, 40 times, then kind of nibble on my finger? Was really odd.
I got him off craigslist. Fortunately he was CB, they asked $20 but they were out of my area so he was $40 delivered.. ha ha! He was incredibly mean when I got him, but after a couple days in the shower he calmed down a bit, but I came to realize he was mostly afraid of the gloves!!Wow, very cool video!!! I want one. Where did you get a Tokay that is so tame. I've heard horror stories about their bite
I brought him to the November show and there were several people who were just in awe. Once you get past the OH MY GOD HE'S GOING TO TAKE MY FINGER OFF stage, you'll be fine. I sat down in my bathtub with the curtains closed once a day for two days, maybe 2-3 times a day for 10 minutes at a time and just held him, completely open handed with gardening gloves. Once I got to the point that he wouldn't run away, I took my gloves off and just let him sit on my hand for as long as he would, after about two days of that I started petting his head, and what do you know? He didn't gape, bite, anything. I think he was more afraid of the gloves than anything.

do know how many i can keep together..would 1 male and female be ok....my setup i think is 18x18x18.....im going to the PA berks county reptile show at the end of feb...hopefully i can find some there.....i also heard that they were illegal....if they dont have the blue day gecko i think i'll just get the gold dust day gecko....geckos definitely have an awesome personality...my leopard geckos remind me of puppy dogs...lol.....

The local petstore has them here, not sure about your state, though. Make sure you do your research on both!
Thanks, I do my best.thanks for posting that...it just proves that all animals have their own personality....i always hear that tokays have a bad rep for being mean...but thanks to ppl like you, you prove that no two animals are the same....

i def will...i have a good month...i already have the supplies...i just need to set it up.....i was originally gonna get a pygmy chameleon but decided on the geckos....i was reading a forum last night and someone said they were illegal...he said they only come from Tasmania(i think) and the people who catch them and send them over using a fake name....i know some ppl in the us breed them....thats like with a sugar glider...we used to have one...but they are illegal in PA....but in PA you can have poisonous snakes and alligators but not a cute little sugar glider....makes no sense to me...lol....

I can not tell you how much blood I have given to wc Tokays. Back in the day we used to bring in dozens for 3.00 ea. Way bad tempered they were. I did not know why anyone would want one.
It is so cool to see a tame calm guy liking the handling and skritches on the head. Syn you rock!
And thanks for describing your technique. Similar to the way of taming parrots, especially wc African Greys.
And I don't know why you would apologize for being in the vid; your skills on display.
