Hey guys just wondering your thoughts on having an exo terra cage for your chams and if you believe they provide enough air flow ive seen alot of people who use them but al the same time most use the screen cages im looking for pros and cons on both please adivse

I have a pair of Calumma malthe (less than 35g) in a 36" x 36" x 18" Exo-Terra. I like them in it. You need to go big with glass. Just my two cents worth.

Pros and cons of glass

Pros

1. Retain heat. This is awesome for where I am up in Canada.

2. Retain humidity. Again this is awesome as it is dry in Canada in winter

3. Clear view of the chameleon.

4. Vents T the bottom of the fron face to allow airflow.

Cons

1. Heat. Too much heat is bad. Watch the temps. If you use 75 watt on the screen you may only need a 50 or 25 watt to achieve the same temp.

2. Humdity. Too much humidity is bad. Again if you're used to misting 5 x a day with a screen maybe only mist twice a day. But you would the. Need a dripper so the chameleon has a constant supply of water.

3. There is less airflow in a glass terrarium. There is enough as long as your heat and humidity are in check.

4. More expensive... I think.

Airflow in a glass cage with a screen roof and the front venting can be fine if you place the basking light to one side and corner of the cage not in the middle so you create a chimney affect for the airflow.

I use the largest size of exo terra for my panther and I think its a bit too small. Perfect for a female I would think but I would like to upgrade mine for my male. It does provide more climbing space than the classic american screen terrarium but its maximum height is 90cm. I would say its a little bit too small for a veiled at least.
In my opinion, glass is much easier to mentain. I have a bio active setup so there is no excess water and my cleaner insects take care of the most. But ofc as someone mentions above, every setup have downsides
