Experience with Humidifiers?

Anyone have experience with humidifiers for their cage? i really would like an automister, but i really dont have the money for that. humidifiers are much cheaper and the concept seems like it should work. please help me with ideas!! thank you guys very very much

Search humidifier here and u should get some good results. One from target or walmart should do the trick.

i did a search but some people were saying that it shouldnt really be used as a mister...i was just wondering if it is good for that purpose and which ones are actually better for that

Correct, a humidifier can't replace a mister or dripper. I may have seen a DIY where someone did convert a humidifier to be a mister as well, but I can't remember for sure. It looks like for your needs you should probably save up for a mist king.

You weren't really clear on what you want it to do. They are great for raising humidity, that's it. Mine raised the humidity by 15%. I only turn it on once every two days for about 3 hours. Hope that helps.

If you need a quick fix for one cage, Bionaire Personal humidifier at BedBath&Beyond is $40 and produces a visible mist. Species please?

all humidifiers have a visable mist that comes out of them, but they are for raising the humidity in the room or with some mod directly to your cage.
they DO NOT replace a mistking or a hand mister for drinking.

oh? could you name one? I had no idea that a humidifier could make the air moist without putting vapor into the air.

I will not indulge you in this further. I think you'll find that most humidifiers on the market are not for our purposes. They are for the rest of the consuming public and there is hardly any "humidity" to speak of a mere few inches away from their output. The inquiring member will find this out as he/she spends over and over on items that just don't get results.

My V5100N worked great. On full 'mist' or 'fog' or 'humidity' it would cause water to build up on the cage and plants. My Jackson could drink from this, as he did. BUT, I do not think they are a good idea. Because by the time it breaks, as they do, you'll have spent as much on humidifiers as you would buying a Mist King.

I totaly disagree.
at least for adding humidity to a room or cage, almost any humidifier does the job quite well.
I've used a vicks V5100N all last winter, and have started to use it again the past 2 weeks...at only half the highest setting, it will raise the humidity in my living room by 30% and keep it there untill empty. it's so powerful that it can be used to add humidity directly to the cage with the use of PVC and/or pool hose.

I'm about to buy two more, one for my bedroom, and one for my upcomming quad cages that I'll use for direct cage humidity.
for about $40-$50 they work great for doing what they are suposed to do...ADD HUMIDITY.
even at 30 feet away, humidifiers work quite well for their purpose.
